How to talk to a cleaner in Sweden
Cleaning is städ. Regular home cleaning is hemstäd. The clean when you move out is flyttstäd. Windows are fönsterputs. The tax deduction people mean is RUT, which applies to the labour when Skatteverket accepts the job.
The 2026 figures used on this site
For 2026, the Swedish pages on this site — checked against Skatteverket in September 2026 — state that ROT is 30% of the labour cost and RUT is 50% of the labour cost. The two share a cap of 75,000 kronor per person per year, and ROT can be at most 50,000 kronor of that cap. Materials and travel are not included. Confirm the current figures at Skatteverket before you rely on them. Cleaning sits on the RUT side, not ROT. Ask for the labour line on its own so the percentage has something to attach to.
Words
- hemstäd — home clean

Message you can send
Hej, jag behöver flyttstäd av en lägenhet på [adress] i [ort], cirka [m²], den [datum]. Kan ni skicka pris efter RUT, och säga om städningen har garanti mot besiktning? Mvh [namn] [telefon]
For a regular clean, replace the first sentence with: Jag söker hemstäd varannan vecka, cirka [timmar].
Who pays when you leave a rental
Many hyresrätt contracts expect the tenant to return the flat cleaned. That is a term in your own contract, not a rule this site can certify. Ask the landlord what standard they inspect against, and whether a flyttstäd with a redo promise (garanti mot besiktning) is what they want. In a bostadsrätt you are usually cleaning for the buyer and the transfer, not for a landlord. A house sale is the same idea: the contract between buyer and seller decides, not the cleaner.
On the phone
Say hemstäd or flyttstäd, the square metres and the date. Ask whether they need a key and a code (portkod). The businesses on the list were checked for F-skatt on 18 September 2026. Nothing on the list is a quality rank.
