How to talk to an electrician in Sweden

Electrical installation in Sweden is regulated. The trade name is elektriker. This catalogue has not checked these firms against Elsäkerhetsverket. A page here is not proof that the firm is allowed to do the job.

Check the register yourself

Use Kolla elföretaget and search the company name or organisation number from the listing. If there is no hit, do not treat the firm as registered. Fixed wiring, a new consumer unit and a car charger (laddbox) are the kind of jobs where that lookup matters. Changing a bulb is not.

Words

Message you can send

Hej, jag behöver en elektriker på [adress] i [ort]. Det gäller [ett uttag / jordfelsbrytare / laddbox]. Kan ni skicka en offert med arbete och material var för sig? Mvh [namn] [telefon]

On the phone

Give the address and the symptom in one sentence: jordfelsbrytaren slår av (the RCD trips) or vi vill ha en laddbox. Ask them to confirm they will invoice with F-skatt. If you lose the thread, hang up and send the message. The person who answers may only speak Swedish.

Who pays, and the tax deduction

In a rental, fixed wiring is usually the landlord’s. Do not open the consumer unit on a guess. In a bostadsrätt, sockets inside the flat are often yours, while the building’s supply is the association’s. A house you own is yours, including the charger on the wall.

For 2026, the Swedish pages on this site — checked against Skatteverket in September 2026 — state that ROT is 30% of the labour cost and RUT is 50% of the labour cost. The two share a cap of 75,000 kronor per person per year, and ROT can be at most 50,000 kronor of that cap. Materials and travel are not included. Confirm the current figures at Skatteverket before you rely on them.
