How to talk to a gardener in Sweden
The Swedish heading is trädgård. Mowing, hedges and planting are trädgårdsarbete. Taking a tree down is trädfällning. Digging, drainage and a new drive are markarbete. Those are different jobs, and Skatteverket does not treat them all the same.
RUT and ROT are not interchangeable here
On the Swedish site, garden care and tree felling are grouped with RUT, and groundworks with ROT. That is a sorting label, not a promise that your invoice qualifies. For 2026, the Swedish pages on this site — checked against Skatteverket in September 2026 — state that ROT is 30% of the labour cost and RUT is 50% of the labour cost. The two share a cap of 75,000 kronor per person per year, and ROT can be at most 50,000 kronor of that cap. Materials and travel are not included. Confirm the current figures at Skatteverket before you rely on them. Ask the firm which deduction they intend to print, then check the examples on Skatteverket’s own page.

Message you can send
Hej, jag har ett träd på tomten vid [adress] i [ort] som behöver fällas. Det står [nära huset / vid tomtgränsen]. Kan ni skicka en offert på fällning och bortforsling? Mvh [namn] [telefon]
If you are not sure the tree is yours, do not send that message yet. A tree on the boundary, or one the municipality has marked, is a question for the kommun or the neighbour. This catalogue cannot see your plot.
On the phone
Say trädfällning or häckklippning and whether a truck can stand on the street. Hauling (bortforsling) is often a separate line. Only a few towns in this catalogue have a garden firm at all. If your town is missing below, the Swedish site does not have one either.
